Magazines on the “new iPad”

When iOS 5 came out with Newsstand I jumped for joy.  I really do like magazines even in this day of instant on demand news.  I feel that sometimes, and especially when the content is a little more specialist like web design or aviation that a well edited magazine still has it’s place in society.  It took some getting used to but I feel it can replace the paper version, and does so quite well.

So I always look forward to reading my magazines and probably spend a good £10-15 a month on these.  I have been doing so on my iPad 2 happily until the “new iPad” came out, which is when it became HORRIBLE!

Now that we have had the iPad 3 (ok I got bored of the official name) with it’s awesome retina screen most app developers have had a chance to update to retina graphics.  To be fair, most apps do a stunning job without the retina graphics and are still usable.  It appears though that Newsstand apps are the complete opposite!

Now that video might look blurry and that is because it is!!!!  The pages take a good 10 seconds to render.  So you turn the page and wait……wait some more and then you can finally read the text.  It is VERY bad.  I do hope this does get sorted out in the future as if this does turn out to be it I will have to stop my love affair with Newsstand! :-(
